# Delete your account

> Export your notes, then delete your account for good.

> **It cannot be undone**

> Deleting your account is immediate. Your notes, settings, connections and sign-in are removed together.

> **Self-hosted memex**
>
> Deleting the account returns the server to its first run, with an empty memex. See [Sign-in and password](https://docs.memex.tools/self-hosted-sign-in).

### 1. Export first
**Settings › Notes** › **Export** › **Download notes**. See [Export notes](https://docs.memex.tools/export).

### 2. Delete
In **Settings › Account**, under **Delete my account**, type your email to confirm and press the delete button.
