# How the Activity log works

> What the journal records, who each row names, its filters, the curation view and downloading it.

Page: https://docs.memex.tools/how-activity-log-works

**Activity log**, in the header at the top right, is the journal of every change to your knowledge base, whoever made it, and every decision made about it:

- notes created, edited, deleted, restored or deleted for good, by you or an assistant;
- uploads and imports, one row each;
- proposals filed, and your approvals and rejections;
- flags raised and resolved;
- tags removed, merged or allowed back;
- connections added, renamed, promoted and disconnected;
- skill settings;
- and the run summaries curators record.

Each row names who did it: you, an assistant, or memex. Rows for a curator's applied changes offer **Show diff**; a note's history holds the text any edit replaced.

Filters: by action, by who, and by scope (**All activity** or **Curation passes only**), plus a search box. Nothing here is ever deleted. Searches and notes read are not recorded.

**Curation** switches to one row per curation pass; see [How curation works](https://docs.memex.tools/how-curation-works). **Request logs download** saves the journal for a date range as Markdown or CSV.
